"Woman and Drummer Priest of Sango" 1964; ironwood
The sacred stone axe, emblem of Sango, rises from the head of the female devotee. Her hands rest on a bata drummer, whose music mimics staccato stormlike sounds during rituals. The priest of Sango, Yoruba god of thunder, holds traditional symbols-a rattle and axe.

"Hunter Diviner" 1996; mahogany
Both hunter and diviner are heroic characters in Yoruba culture and Lamidi presents them bearing symbols of their professions. The hunter provides food and protection for the family. The diviner offers spiritual guidance to the community.

"Medical Practitioners" 1977; mahogany
This door shows the diversity of medical practices in Nigeria today. The top panel features a Yoruba healer assisting with a birth. The middle and bottom panels depict Nigerian medical professionals trained in Western medicine.
